After months of waiting, a few days ago, the world welcomed the new Switch JRPG, Octopath Traveler and, as expected, Japanese gamers turned to the stores to acquire a copy of the physical edition. However, demand has outstripped supply and some stores on the Japanese island have been sold, confirming the worst fears of many fans: the shortage on launch day.

One day after the start of Octopath Traveler at Switch, some stores in Japan reported that the physical units of the JRPG were exhausted, with no estimated resupply date. This situation generated a disappointment among fans who were looking for a copy, especially to enjoy the best this weekend, because they would have an extra day to play since July 16 (Monday) is considered a holiday in the country by the celebration of Sea Day. The situation was reported immediately to Square Enix and the company apologized to the players through the game's public record.

In addition to the excuses, the company has recommended that players op try for the digital version available in Switch eShop or, in any case, acquire the code to load in one of the branches of the Lawson chain of stores, where it is possible to buy the card with art of the game and with the download code printed.

So, and with the exception of what is reflected in the sales reports to be published this week, everything indicates that Octopath Traveler had a good reception on the market
