.- Mondelez has announced a voluntary recall in the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands of certain Ritz products due to the possible presence of Salmonella.

These products contain whey powder as an ingredient, which the supplier has withdrew due to the possible presence of salmonella, the company reported.

The company notes that there has been no report of disease related to the product. No other Mondelez product is involved in the recall.

"The company makes this call as a precaution, based on the removal of the ingredient supplier," the company said.

The recall includes 16 variants of cookies, among which are Ritz bits cheese of 3, 1 and 1.5 ounces, as well as packets of 12 and 30 biscuits; Ritz Cheese Sandwich

The company explains that Salmonella is a micro-organism that can cause serious or life-threatening infections in children, adolescents, the elderly and the immunocompromised.
