Even real car companies have to take a break from time to time.
After working 24 hours a day for weeks to reach a production goal, Tesla will interrupt part of the production of Model 3 this week, according to people with knowledge of the subject. The break will allow the company to perform basic maintenance and allow workers to enjoy hot dogs and fireworks on July 4th with their families.
Most employees will return to work on July 5 and the brief hiatus will not affect Tesla's production goals. The company reported Monday that model 3 production reached 5 thousand 31 units in the last seven days of June, surpassing the target of 5,000 cars that the leader Elon Musk considered, in its own words, crucial for generating money and making profits.
After crossing the cap of mass manufacturing, Musk said that Tesla had shown that it was a real automobile. To confirm their argument, many automakers are planning summer closures near Independence Day to perform maintenance work.
However, the break in the manufacturing activity of Tesla takes place after three frantic months that included the installation of an improvised production line under a tent in front of its assembly plant in California. Musk slept at the production plant to personally guarantee that the company has achieved its production goal.
On Monday, the automaker said that it would be able to produce 6,000 Model 3s a week by the end of the month of August. If history repeats itself, it means that Tesla workers could have a nice break for Labor Day on September 3rd.
