Locatel and the phone number of Mexico's hydraulic system (Sacmex) had received about 900 calls until Friday as part of the water cut in the country's capital, but it is believed that the critical point would be in the early hours of November 5th.

The capital's government said that 60% was due to the fact that Iztapalapa's municipal government is asking for water pipes, but so far there have been no reports or incidents related to this eventuality.

Operation by cutting water in the Edomex plant, confirms CAEM

The head of government, José Ramón Amieva, explained that during the first two days of cutting the pipe, three thousand trips were made, although there is a capacity of four thousand per day to supply the inhabitants in vital liquid.

He felt that the critical point of the eventuality of the reduction in water consumption would take place during the early hours of Monday, November 5, but that the operation will continue until the seventh day at least, in order to avoid any further impact.

The water cut could end on November 3, says Amieva

"We hope that the most critical point is the end of the repair work, during which these large tanks are filled to generate normal water pressure. It is at this point that many of those who have left the city will come back "he explained.

He explained that in general, the calls to Locatel and Sacmex were aimed at asking for information on the location of the water tanks in the public spaces and that they are filled in. permanence, as well as for the delivery of the pipes.

Water leak in Mexico City, in the middle of the mega-cut

Amieva went on Friday to the Benito Juárez City Hall, where Pozo Parroquia 1 is located to check that the water dispensed is suitable for human consumption.

This well was drilled in 2013 at a depth of 300 meters and produced 60 liters per second (5.2 million liters per day) and feeds the Del Valle colony. In this demarcation, there is a permanent heron (well in the street Lourdes and the south axis 6) and seven others have been activated for a total of eight.

Work has progressed in the Cutzamala system

Of the four pipelines with which it operates normally, including support from the capital government, the National Water Commission (Conagua) and rents, 39 have benefited from support in the reserve for that sector.

Amieva explained that the prevalence of calls from the Iztapalapa region is due to the fact that "we consider that this is due to the higher population density and, in addition, the infrastructure in many homes water tanks and cisterns is not available ".

The water cut is not a problem for firefighters

He reiterated that, at the moment, there are no reports of complaints or incidents that warrant greater intervention, staff from the Office of the Comptroller General of Mexico City, Sacmex, the Secretariat for Health and the public security of the capital (SSP-CDMX), among other dependencies.

He said that so far, there have been about three thousand trips during these two days of the cut. "We have the operational capacity of about four thousand trips a day, so if we add those two days, we still do not get close to the current capacity."

He emphasized that the capital's government was prepared so that this eventuality did not affect the daily activities, the celebrations of these dates, or the commercial activities, and urged the population not to aside the conservation and reuse of water.

The water cut hits you until the day of the dead

He reiterated that there was a significant presence of visitors to the country's capital, both national and foreign, who could add, during these days of the Day of the Dead celebration, about 100,000 people.

The capital has 430 wells in operation; under normal conditions, 26 herons feed some 350 pipes that regularly feed the colonies without regular service and located in the municipalities of Iztapalapa and Tlalpan.

Similarly, Sacmex has 27 pipes that help in areas where the service is affected by a leak repair or a well failure. On the occasion of the eventuality, the number of pipes planned is of 286 thousand (clean of the government of the capital, mayors, tenants and 60 of Conagua).

For this number of pipes, it was decided to implement more than 60 additional loading points (herons), in order to obtain the greatest efficiency in the loading process and to avoid long waiting times.

In each town hall, a command post was set up to decide the destination of each of the pipes loaded. The priorities are hospitals, clinics, prisons, asylums, community kitchens and, on Monday, November 5, schools and nurseries.

Once covered and guaranteed the supply of priority facilities, the water supply of the general population is based on requests for pipelines received on the phones of Locatel, Sacmex and City Hall.
