This Saturday, October 20 will begin the 38th edition of the International Book Fair of Oaxaca (FILO) in its new headquarters: the Center of Culture and Congress of Oaxaca (CCCO). The inauguration will be entrusted to the French sociologist Gilles Lipovetsky, who will give the conference Political citizenship: pluralism and democracy in the era of hypermodernity.

For nine days, from 20 to 28 October, FILO expects to receive 4,500 participants on six forums to enjoy 400 activities, 112 stands and 230 guests, among which stand out: Juan Villoro, Premio Crónica 2015; Spanish screenwriter Ray Loriga; the 2014 Alfonso Reyes International Prize, Alberto Manguel and the South American designers Liniers and Montt.

Saturday, alongside the French Gilles Lipovetsky, authors such as Alberto Manguel, who will host the conference, will arrive at the literary festival of Oaxaca. A literary biography; Tedi López Mills presents his recent book What we have done and Paul Theroux, who will talk about his essay In search of ayahuasca and other detours presented by the writer Juan Villoro.

Antonio Malpica will also be present to present the saga The book of heroes, Álvaro Uribe comments on his books Characters and history of stories, as well as Juan Cárdenas to present his recent novel Strata.

In this edition, FILO will pay tribute to Amparo Dávila, narrator of Zacatecan, whose work is the pillar of Mexican fantasy history; Francisco Hinojosa, for his endearing books for children. It will also organize posthumous tributes to Sergio Pitol and Juan José Arreola.

When recognizing the cultural trajectory, FILO will award this distinction to the Civil Association of Friends of the Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca (IAGO) and to the Manuel Álvarez Bravo Photographic Center (CFAMB) .

The offer of the 38 edition of FILO will comprise six blocks: Literary, Children and Youth, FILO, FILOando, My first literary encounter and professional program, as well as musical performances of Los Patitta de Perro and 31 Minutos.
