This is a pioneering transplant also in terms of treatment, since it is the first to be performed without immunosuppressive drugs thanks to perfect genetic compatibility between the donor and the recipient according to the note.

Brännström is the author of the first uterine transplant performed in the world, which took place in Sweden in the year 2014, and since then, has "successfully completed another eight".

Worldwide, 40 attempts at uterine transplantation have been made for the moment, which has led to eleven live births.
