The Fuel and Health Division increases EBITDA by 3% of FEMSA

In the financial report for the second half of 2018, the fuel and health trade divisions inflated the gross operating cash flow (EBITDA) of Fomento Económico Mexicano (FEMSA) by 3%.

FEMSA, with commercial enterprises, fuel sales, pharmacies and traffic jams, reported an EBITDA of 15 thousand 744 million pesos for the April-June period of the current year, an increase of of 3%.

The company's sales reached 124 thousand 708 million pesos during the quarter, an increase of 8.6% over the same period of 2017, with the fastest growing division being fuel with 21.5%; health monitoring with 17.1%; trading with 9.7 percent, and KOF with 3.9 percent.

Eduardo Padilla, CEO of FEMSA, explained that the two-digit significant growth of the fuel division was linked to a simple basis of comparison, so that "it was again facing a base of weak comparison and thus achieved a quarter plus with margin recovery, despite a lower sales volume and with a higher rate of expansion of the number of stations ".

With regard to the health division, he pointed out that this reflected an improvement in business activity and greater efficiency in enforcement.

Meanwhile, the commercial division, corresponding to the Oxxo chain, faced a difficult comparative base due to the calendar effect of Holy Week, which was celebrated this year in the first quarter, and no to the second.
