MEXICO CITY – The Italian oil company Eni will start producing 8,000 barrels a day of crude oil (bpd) in shallow waters in Mexico in early 2019 and will reach the target of 90,000 bpj in 2022, according to the development plan approved by the Mexican oil regulator on Tuesday

Eni's production will come from the contract won in September 2015 in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico and which contains the fields discovered by the Mexican state company Pemex Amoca, Miztón y Tecoalli

The production of 90 000 b / d of crude would remain stable between 2022 and 2025, according to the plan approved by the National Commission of Hydrocarbons (CNH).

Initially, Eni will market the hydrocarbons that it produces through Pemex, but in a second step, it will deliver to the public oil company only natural gas and market oil. In October last year, Eni announced that it could sell assets in its oil and gas fields in Mexico and Indonesia in the next stage of its sales strategy.

Last May, the chief financial officer of the oil company, Massimo Mondazzi, declared that the company was in the process of reducing its holdings in the oil fields of these two countries.
