The law against the pension of presidents is not yet in the DOF

Not yet published by the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), the Federal Act on the remuneration of civil servants, which eliminates pensions received by former Presidents of the Republic, has not yet entered into force.

On the eve, the chairman of the Senate's board of directors, Martí Batres Guadarrama, sent an office to Alejandro López González, Director of the DOF, to ask him to publish the said ordinance, which states that no public official will earn more than the President of the Republic, in this case 108,000 pesos per month.

The letter addressed to the director of the DOF, a page, dated October 31 and addressed with a copy to the Secretary of the Interior, Alfonso Navarrete Prida, points out that the president did not veto him Enrique Peña Nietothe Federal Act on the remuneration of civil servants would automatically come into force.

Thanks to this law, presidents Luis Echeverria, Carlos Salinas, Ernesto Zedillo, Vicente Fox, Felipe Calderón and Enrique Peña Nieto will not receive a life annuity.

"The President of the Republic (Enrique Peña Nieto) has neither promulgated nor published it, so it is up to an official to order the publication of the law on maximum wages," Martí Batres said.

This new law will also regulate the salaries, allowances, bonuses, prizes, rewards and bonuses of federal public officials and prohibit each of them from receiving a greater perception than that of the acting President of the Republic.
