WASHINGTON – The Republicans will retain control of the US Senate, according to a CNN projection, after an election in which the Democratic Party will resume the House of Representatives after eight years of Republican rule.

After polling day, US President Donald Trump wrote on his Twitter account "A huge success tonight, thank you all!"

During the elections, two-thirds of the voters said their vote in the congressional elections was Donald Trump, according to exit polls by CNN and among them, more people have expressed opposition to the president.
