The Secretara of Treasury and Public Credit (SHCP) confirmed the salary increase to senior officials of government agencies two weeks before the elections and without making it public.
The newspaper La Jornada reported that the federal agency approved a salary increase for the 317 members of the "high federal bureaucracy", when polls predicted the defeat of Jos Antonio Meade.
According to the publication, the increase was approved without explaining the impact it will have on the Congressional 2018 Federation's spending budget.
The Treasury Secretary confirmed in Ciro Gmez Leyva's Bulletin that the official document number 307-A.-1665, dated June 13, is authentic.

This increase is retroactive to the month of January of this year, from the President of the Republic to the liaison staff.
It is expected that in the next few hours the Treasury Secretariat will explain under which principles there is an increase of senior officials.
