The operator Alsea restaurants and cafeterias reported annual growth of 11.7% of its operating flow (EBITDA) in the second quarter of 2018, mainly attributable to the management of wind energy in 60% of its units in Mexico said the company in the report sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV).

In its financial report for the April-June period of the current year, the company headed by Renzo Casillo pointed out that a good control of the operating expenses has earned them an improvement of 60 basis points of EBITDA.

"The increase in EBITDA of 164 million pesos mainly explained by the benefit of the management of renewable energy (wind) in 60% of the units in Mexico, a strict control of the same expenses which show a growth lower than the reported increase in sales, as well as the growth of sales of comparable stores and new openings of units, "reflects the document.

The firm stated that the expenditures that were to control were related to the minimum wage in Mexico, the program to reduce staff turnover, the final expenditures inherent in the integration of the new Operations center, operating expenses of the openings and the increase of energy service tariffs in Argentina .

In the report of the second quarter of 2018, it was reported that net sales increased by 8.2 percent compared to the same period of 2017 rising from 10 thousand 344 million to 11 thousand 194 million pesos.

"During the second quarter of the year 19459003, we launched successful trading strategies such as the Alsea Digital Cuponera and pursued our innovation strategies on several of our brands" said Renzo Casillo, CEO of Alsea.

Among those who stood out were Sushiology in PF Chang & Mexico City and Triple Cheeseburger at Burger King Chile, which recorded a 4.5% increase in same-store sales and 8.2% of total sales .

These promotions thwarted the negative calendar effect of Holy Week, as well as the Football World Cup whose schedules did not benefit traffic in most formats.

Alsea's net profit during the April-June period of this year was 272 million pesos .

Alsea is a restaurant operator in Latin America and Spain with brands such as: Domino Pizza, Starbucks, Burger King, Chile, California Pizza Kitchen, PF Chang's, Italianni's, Cheesecake Factory , Vips, El Portón, Archie's, Foster's Hollywood, LAVACA and Cañas y Tapas.
