Ángel Ávila Romero secretary general of the PRD, assured that the victory of the virtual elected president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador was due to the anti-system vote and not because of his national project .
"We came from a series of important triumphs and I think people voted more than the project of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, because of the anti-system (.. .) There are democrats who recognize it gives us the vote ", assured the secretary of the party.
In an interview for the agency Notimex Ávila Romero rejected that the decision to form a coalition with the PAN and Movimiento Ciudadano to name Ricardo Anaya to the Presidency was a mistake and attributed the favorite's defeat to the circumstances.
On the alliance, he said that the coalition continues to have a political life, since Mexico needs a serious, intelligent and firm opposition that makes counterweight to the power granted to López Obrador at the polls. However, he reiterated that they will support the projects of the former head of government that benefits the nation.
The Secretary General of the PRD pointed out that after reading the results of the quick count and the PREP, the party will have to face a new scenario, not to mention the causes that led to it, such as that: social struggles and the fight against corruption.
Avila Romero suggested that the national leadership of "Sol Azteca" could meet this week to make an initial assessment of the results obtained in federal and local elections on Sunday.
