These diseases are the second leading cause of death from curable diseases in children 0-5 years old, since they cover 4.5% of deaths in this age range, so since 2012 they are organized Extramural Surgery Days in collaboration with medical associations or the Federal Health Secretariat.

Two in every 100 live births are living with heart disease and at least one of them will require corrective surgery. The cure rate of these diseases is about 80% and about 5,000 corrective surgeries are performed each year in the country; However, there is still a delay of about 13,000 children who do not benefit from timely surgery.
