They claim that the infamous AI of Alien: Colonial Marines is the fault of a finger-tip

Alien: Colonial Marines is one of the great disappointments of the decade and one of the main culprits of this is the poor artificial intelligence of the Xenomorph. Interestingly, this annoying problem was due to a very simple reason: a finger error in the code of Colonial Marines .

TemplarGFX, a recognized user of ModDB, was responsible for the discovery and making this information public. In a post he revealed that part of the code of Alien: Colonial Marines says "Act_AttachPawnToTeather" when in fact he should say "Act__AttachTo Tether". Although this seems little, this extra letter makes the Xenomorph behave in a completely different way.

This happens because "Act_AttachPawnToTeather" (that is, the one that has an error) is a command that does nothing. For its part, "Act__AttachTo Tether" is responsible for the tactical position of the enemy and his patrol actions. In other words, it is what allows the enemy to understand what is the combat zone and understand the player's position.

With this discovery, TemplarGFX changed the code of Alien: Colonial Marines situation. According to some players – like ResetEra's JigglesBunny – this makes the fight very different since it makes the enemies much more aggressive. Of course, whether it makes Colonial Marines an experience worthwhile or not depends on the judgment of each.

Have you ever imagined that the problems of Alien: Colonial Marines were due to such a simple mistake? Tell us in the comments.
