BBVA Bancomer will increase the number of payment terminals to be paid by simply bringing the mobile phone, informed Alejandro Pineda, director of banking products at the financial institution.
At a conference to introduce a children's savings account, the manager noted that 180,000 BBVA Bancomer payment terminals are allowed to receive contactless payments, also called "contactless".
These terminals receive in stores the payments of customers who have in their mobile phone the BBVA Bancomer Wallet application to pay by simply bringing their device to this collection channel.
Hugo Nájera, BBVA Bancomer's general manager of business development, admitted that some companies did not know that this payment function was activated.
He indicated that it will be until the middle of the year when this method of payment will take off and that the Bank will conduct a dissemination and training campaign in this regard, since it should have already allowed the installation of 34,000 terminals installed in Oxxo stores.
Leaders said that, with Oxxo collection terminals enabled, increased use of contactless payments is expected, which will facilitate the training of sellers and buyers in contactless collection.

In turn, officials said that the 60,000 terminals that BBVA Bancomer owns in Walmart stores will also receive mobile phone payments.
Currently, 3 million BBVA Bancomer customers have downloaded the Wallet app, and one million of them use it.
On the other hand, Nájera said that 35% of BBVA Bancomer sales are made via digital channels and that this proportion should reach 40% by the end of the year.
