I Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) lit the night of this Thursday the purple lighting in the iconic monuments of the capital of the country, in order to call the vote on the day of July 1.
The activity took place at 19:30 o'clock in the Angel of Independence, as a symbolic call to citizenship to participate in the largest election in the history of the country, and go to the polls in an informed manner.
Every night the Angel of Independence, the Monument to the Revolution, the Diana the Huntress, the Glorieta de la Palma, the monument to Colombus and that of Cuauhtemoc, as well as the planters of the Paseo de la Independencia Reforma, will carry the purple tone that represents democracy in Mexico City.
The event was led by President Mario Velázquez, who will be accompanied by electoral advisers Carolina del Ángel Cruz, Myriam Reyes Alarcón, Gabriela Williams Salazar, Mauricio Huesca Rodríguez, Yuri Beltrán Gabriel Miranda and Bernardo Valle Monroy.
The purple lighting will remain from June 28 to June 30, 2018.
