Despite the negative environment in the automotive market, where the demand for vehicles is expected to decrease by 4% in 2018, Guillermo Díaz Director of Operations of Toyota Motor Sales of México said Wednesday that they are expecting to sell 107,000 cars this year, an increase of nearly 2 percent from 2018.

At the conference, he pointed out that they will drive this growth with their high demand models such as Hilux and Corolla which are enjoying great success in Mexico.

Regarding rising prices, Tom Sullivan, President of Toyota Mexico, explained that they are constantly analyzing with the managers of United States and Japan How to establish prices in the country before the strength of the dollar on the peso.

"We want to have the best balance between having a price that allows the company to win, but also to be competitive to keep selling cars (…) I do not have a ball of crystal to know what will happen, we also observe the others (the competition), "he said.

For the second half of the year, Toyota will launch two new versions of its Hilux truck, but also a new hybrid, which according to Tom Sullivan could be the hybrid version of Camry but not yet made the final decision.

"We want to continue to increase our protagonist of hybrid cars, in the first half, we sold 5 thousand 300 units of Prius and Prius C, we hope to carry 10 thousand by the end of 2018", commented Diaz.

He reiterated that Mexico is the third largest market in the world for range models Prius so they perceive the potential enough to introduce a hybrid sedan model before the end of this year.

About the Renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (19459003) The Director of Operations stated that he respected the process and had confidence in the opening of the market.

"We all believe that free trade is the main source of growth and well-being for all nations, we are facing a process, a somewhat complicated situation for our northern neighbor, but the reality is that we expect this is defined, "said Diaz.
