Up to 20 deaths from H1N1 flu

In the epidemiological report, the authorities of the Ministry of Health (Sesal) reported up to Wednesday a total of 19 people killed by the H1N1 flu virus nationwide. However, later was reported on the death of a senior by this same virus, so that the number of deaths rose to 20.

The Undersecretary of State at the Health, Roberto Cosenza, detailed that the eighteenth victim is an 11-year-old from the Choluteca Department.

He added that the Department of Vigilance is investigating another reported death in the eastern part of the country.

The doctor called on the population to take measures to prevent this disease and groups considered at risk of being vaccinated, since the day of vaccination was extended for another week.

He regretted that a higher incidence of this disease is observed in the south of the country.

The Sesal Influenza Unit has a total of 357 cases, of which 273 are of type AH1N1 and 84 are of type B.

Cases of influenza have increased despite the efforts of health authorities. Vaccination day began on May 14 with the vaccination against the H1N1 virus, Francisco Morazán y Cortés, to vaccinate the first vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children under five years, the Chronicle, more than 59 years old, and health workers.
