Currency volatility has heightened the appetite for investing in the Mexican Stock Exchange ("BMV") international listing system (SIC), said stock market operations director Alfredo Guillén.
Until November, the daily amount exchanged reached an average of 11,000 million pesos, which is 72.8% more than the average of 6.240 million registered per day in the previous months.
"So far this month, this figure was around 11,000 million pesos. This is only because of the currency effect that we have more want to invest in Mexico in securities benefiting from this protection, "Guillen said at a conference on the 15th anniversary of SIC.
He reminded that investments in this type of securities allow investors to protect themselves against fluctuations in exchange rates. Until November, the peso is appreciated by 0.40% against the dollar, to reach 20.2195 units, against 20.3000 units at the end of October.
"SICs are naturally local and hedge themselves, volatility generates business because there are still buying and selling opportunities," he said.
Fifteen years after the creation of this platform, more than 1,700 securities cite 51% of ETFs and 49% of companies in 43 countries, with cumulative assets of more than 778,000 million pesos.
By transaction amount, international securities represent more than 41% of the total amount of the local stock market.
At present, more than 15,000 active investors invest in CLC, such as Afores, insurers, investment funds, individuals, and their numbers are growing more and more.
As part of the 15th anniversary of the CIS, Juan Manuel Olivo, Promotion and Issuer Director of the Bolsa Mexicana Group in Valores, announced new changes for the platform.
