Following the events in India around fake news, WhatsApp will limit the number of people to whom a user can transfer certain messages from the platform . In this way, the American company hopes to reduce the impact of this type of news and its viralization.

Up to now, a person could send a message to up to 250 contacts. After the changes made by the company, this limit is reduced to 5 contacts in the case of India and 20 contacts in the rest of the world.

The Propagation of False News Influenced the Death of Many

The American Society also dispenses with the "fast forwarding" button in India which makes the process of viralizing more content complex through its platform.

same line, WhatsApp recently added a new indicator that informs the contacts when a message was forwarded. In this way, users of the platform can more easily detect the source of content

This type of measures does not solve the spread of false news, but reduces the possibilities of viralizing them.
