Mia Farrow had a few choice words for those who spread “vicious untruths” about the deaths of three of her children, Tam, Lark and Thaddeus.
On Wednesday evening, the 76-year-old actor shared a statement on Twitter with the caption “Regarding my children.”
“As a mother of fourteen children, my family is everything to me,” she began. “While I have chosen a career that has placed me in the public arena, most of my children have chosen to lead very private lives. I respect their every wish, which is why I am selective in my social media posts. “
The “Rosemary’s Baby” star said she chose to speak out after “vicious rumors based on lies” emerged online regarding the lives of three of her deceased adopted children.
In an effort to “honor their memory,” Farrow shared some details about each deceased child.
“My beloved daughter Tam died at age 17 from an accidental prescription overdose related to the painful migraines she suffered and her heart disease,” she wrote. Tam died in 2000.
Farrow described Lark, who died in 2008 of complications from HIV / AIDS, as an “amazing wife, wonderful daughter, sister, partner and mother to her own children.”
“Despite her illness, she has lived a fruitful and loving life with her children and her longtime partner. She succumbed to her illness and died suddenly in hospital over Christmas, in her partner’s arms, ”Farrow wrote.
Finally, she said her “brave” son Thaddeus, who was 29 when he died in 2016, committed suicide when a relationship ended “abruptly”.
Later in the statement, Farrow said the loss of three of his fourteen children was an “indescribable” tragedy and that “any further speculation about their deaths” is a disgrace to their lives.
“Everyone has their own battle to fight; their own gnawing sorrows. I send you my best hopes and my love, ”she concluded.
While it is not known what “vicious untruths” Farrow was referring to, there has been debate even within Farrow’s own family over the details surrounding Tam’s death.
Farrow’s adopted son Moses Farrow disputed that Tam’s death was an accident in a 2018 blog post, writing that Tam had committed suicide by overdosing.
Notably, the relationship of Moses and his mother became a topic of public discussion with the release of the HBO documentary series “Allen v. Farrow ”in February. The two are currently separated and Moses declined to be interviewed for the series.
