The Miami Hurricanes have announced their 2021 football schedule, which consists of 12 games with eight Atlantic Coast Conference games.
Miami will open the season on September 4 against reigning national champion Alabama in the Chick-fil-A launch game in Atlanta, Ga., And play rival Florida State on November 13.
Alabama’s No.1 (13-0) and North Carolina’s No.18 (8-4) are the only two teams on Miami’s 2021 calendar to finish ranked in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Miami was 0-3 against teams that finished seeded last season.
The Hurricanes are set to fire 19 starters from last year’s 8-3 squad that finished 22nd with a Cheez-It Bowl appearance. They will play seven home games, four road games and one neutral venue game.
After the first meeting against the Crimson Tide since 1993, the Hurricanes will have four consecutive home games against Appalachian State (September 11), Michigan State (September 18), Central Connecticut State (September 25) and Virginia (Sep 30) before a 6 week holiday.
The game against Virginia in Thursday night’s only game of the season in Miami marks the first of eight straight games for the ACC.
Miami’s first real road game of the 2021 campaign will take place in North Carolina (October 16) as part of an ACC schedule that will alternate home and road games throughout the conference. Miami hosts NC State (October 23), then travels to Pittsburgh (October 30), hosts Georgia Tech (November 6), plays Florida State (November 13), at home against Virginia Tech (November 20), and finishes his regular season at Duke (November 27).
The 11-game schedule includes six teams they faced in 2020, going 5-1 in those games, with the only loss being a 62-26 loss to North Carolina.
Miami will look to extend their winning streak against rival Florida State to five games as they lead the overall series 35-30.
The game against Alabama will be the first meeting between the schools since 1993. Alabama leads the series 14-3.
Miami has not lost to its three other non-conference opponents, going 1-0 to Appalachian State, 4-0 to Michigan State, and this will be the first meeting against FCS Central Connecticut State.
