University Of Miami fired first-year security Avantae Williams from the soccer team on Thursday after he was arrested for domestic violence involving his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
Williams, 20, faces three counts of aggravated bodily harm to a pregnant person.
“The University of Miami announced Thursday that freshman safety Avantae Williams has been excluded from the football program,” the school said in a statement.

The Maimi-Dade Police Department said the couple had been living together for four months in an apartment and argued over meeting another woman on Wednesday, FOX affiliate WSVN-TV reported. Authorities said the ex-girlfriend was 31 weeks pregnant and Williams was the father of the unborn child, WPLG-TV reported.
According to an arrest report, he grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground several times. She was taken to hospital and reportedly had bruises and broken fingernails.
Williams appeared in court on Thursday.
“Even if she calls you and wants to get together, you can’t get near her,” Miami-Dade Circuit Court judge Mindy S. Glazer told her. “If anyone sees you with her, you would break the order to stay away and you could be arrested again. Okay, and you could face additional charges. If you are arrested again, you will have to stay in jail until your trial. “
He was being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and his bond has since been posted.

Williams, a top-notch safety, did not play for the Hurricanes last season due to medical issues. He was to play the coming season.
