Miami added a big rookie, figuratively and literally, to its 2020 class on Sunday when offensive tackle ESPN 300 Jalen Rivers announced his commitment.
Prior to his engagement, Rivers, who ranked 32nd overall, was among the top five in Miami, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and the state of Florida.

Rivers is a 6-foot-5, 330-pound offensive lineman at Oakleaf High School in Orange Park, Florida. He is the first offensive lineman ESPN 300 to be hired in Miami in this category.
The Hurricanes have beaten the other Rivers Public Schools, which is the No. 2 rookie of the state. Adding him to this class gives Miami two of the top five rookies in the state (half-Don Chaney Jr. is the other).
Chaney and Rivers are both ranked in the top 40 overall. The recruitment of these two recruits and their removal from Florida and the state of Florida were therefore a great victory for Manny Diaz and his staff.
Of the seven ESPN 300 commitments currently in the Miami 2020 category, four – Rivers, Chaney (No. 40), quarterback Tyler Van Dyke (No. 102) and wide receiver Bryan Robinson (No. 130) – are featured in the top 150.
