Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, pledged on Thursday to fill the gaps in Special Representative Robert Mueller's investigation of Russia just hours before a redacted version of his report was released.
"Soon, I'll be ready to talk to the American people again … say everything … and say it myself!" Cohen tweeted.

This tweet came after his lawyer, Lanny Davis, tweeted that Cohen "knows and can complete the essential of the redactions".
"We'll tell you everything," he promised.
Cohen is scheduled to go to jail next month to begin serving a three-year jail sentence after pleading guilty to tax evasion, fraud, lying in front of Congress and violations of campaign funding.
He testified before Congress in February, calling Trump "racist …. A cheat … cheat "and expressing his regret for working for Trump. In his testimony, he stated that he had "suspicions" about the collusion of Trump's presidential campaign with Russia – although the special council apparently did not find such evidence.

This month, Cohen's legal team sent a letter to the Democrats in the House to tell him that he was still sorting out documents that might be of interest to House Democrats investigating President Trump, including e-mails, voice recordings, images, and other documents stored on a hard drive. The lawyers said that if Cohen showed up as expected at the jail on May 6, he would not be able to complete the examination of the material.
They asked legislators to write letters saying that Cohen was cooperating and that "the sheer mass of new information, documents, records and other evidence that he can provide requires considerable time with him and immediate access from committees and staff to carry out their investigations, investigations and fulfill their oversight responsibilities.

Cohen's lawyers said they still hoped that federal prosecutors in New York would not only support a new delay in the beginning of his jail sentence, but would also agree to reopen his case and plead in favor of a lighter sentence.
