CLEARWATER, Fla. – Michael Drejka was found guilty of killing Markeis McGlockton on a disabled parking spot outside a Clearwater convenience store in July 2018.

The 6-person jury deliberated for more than six hours before convicting Drejka, 48, on Friday. He was found guilty of manslaughter.

ABC Action News was in the courtroom during the entire murder trial, which began on Monday.

Daily Breakdown: All that happened during Michael Drejka's trial

The case of Drejka sparked a national debate over Florida's controversial law "hold on" after the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office declared that Drejka was protected by "hold on" and did not initially stopped.

On July 19, 2018, Drejka shot Markeis McGlockton in front of the Circle A convenience store in Clearwater.

This arose out of a dispute over a parking spot for people with disabilities between Drejka and McGlockton's girlfriend, Britany Jacobs.

The convenience store security video captured McGlockton leaving the store and pushing Drejka to the ground. Seconds later, Drejka responded by taking a handgun and pulling McGlockton to the chest. Throughout the trial, defense counsel and prosecutors asked if McGlockton had pulled back when Drejka pulled the trigger. After being shot, McGlockton returned to the store, where his five-year-old son was standing in front of the front door, before falling to the ground. McGlockton's son, Markeis Jr., watched the whole meeting. McGlockton's death was pronounced shortly after at a local hospital.
