Michael F. Florio Fantasy Week 12 Football Sleepers

Carson Wentz failed to throw 250 yards in three straight games, so maybe I should learn to stop expecting production for the Eagles. And I would, if they played for any team outside of the Seahawks. Seattle has been burned by receivers throughout the season, so even after receiving a bunch of tweets about the Eagles wide receiver dropout, I’m advocating both Travis Fulgham and Jalen Reagor as sleepers this week! Over the course of the season Seattle is giving up a fantastic 54.99 PPG to wide receivers, that’s the most in the NFL and it’s not close. No other team delivers a fantastic 45 PPGs to the WRs. In fact, since 2000, they are the only team to allow over 46 fantastic PPGs to hold this position. They also allowed receivers 259.7 yards per game, the most since 2000 – no other team allowed 225. It’s not just a good game, it’s WR’s best game of the past 20 years. . I understand the reluctance to play for the Eagles, but can you really ignore such a good game?

Fulgham has been in games for the past two weeks, but before that it was a fantastic asset, scoring over 12 fantastic points in five straight. Although he disappointed last week, he still led the Eagles with seven targets. He also saw James Bradberry and the poor weather in Cleveland the past two weeks which contributed to his struggles. Reagor has seen at least five targets in three straight games, scoring eight fantasy points in four straight games. Considering that Philly will likely have to throw more to keep up with Russell Wilson and the Seahawks’ offense, there should be more opportunities than usual. In a big game, that’s enough to keep them in play in week 12. Both are WR3 or flex options with a lot of benefits.

Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

I like his receivers this week, which means I like Wentz as a sleeper as well. Wentz struggled, scoring less than 15 fantasy points in three straight games. But it’s a potential game for Wentz. Keep in mind that before the last three games, he had scored over 21 fantasy points in four of the five games. So we know the potential is there for Wentz. But this is more of the game Seattle gave the QB’s second most fantastic PPG (24.45), including a league-high 355.1 passing yards per game. Seattle has given up a top-12 QB seven times this season. I didn’t classify Wentz as a QB1 this week, but it’s a top of the line QB2 with an advantage.

Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants

Jones has been better lately after a tough start to the season. He has now scored over 20 fantasy points in two of his last four and over 16 in three of them. The best part is he’s run more – run over 60 yards in three of his last five games. Those extra six points on his passing numbers go a long way and that’s why he’s been a fantastic best asset lately. He has a favorable game this week against the Bengals, who sit in the middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points awarded to QBs. But the Bengals allowed 22 passing touchdowns, which is tied for second in the NFL. They are also giving up the fourth most rushing yards per game (136.2). He’s a QB2 with an advantage this week and he gets Seattle next week!

David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bear

Montgomery struggled in recent weeks before getting injured, scoring less than 14 fantasy points in four straight games. But he also saw volume as he hadn’t done before. He has at least 14 runs in four straight games and has seen at least five targets in each game, but one since Tarik Cohen was injured. He also has a great game against the Packers which gave the RBs the second most fantastic PPG this season (31.39). Montgomery has become a forgotten fantastic asset in his absence, but don’t forget that this week. He’s a borderline RB2 with an advantage in this game.

Jonathan Taylor, RB, Indianapolis Colts

It’s been difficult to trust the Colts RB this season, but last week was a big step forward for Jonathan Taylor. His 26 touches were the most he’s had in a game since Week 2. He had four targets for the third time this season and the first time since Week 6. He’s also played 56% of the shots. It might be just a week like we’ve seen with the Colts, but the second-round pick is on the rise and his performance last week has hopefully gained a little more confidence. The Titans have given up 25 fantastic PPGs to running backs this season, including 14 TDs, tied for third in the NFL. Taylor is a flexible option with an advantage.

Ty Johnson, RB, New York Jets

It’s purely league deep sleep, but Johnson finished Week 11 with six targets. La’Mical Perine suffered a sprained high ankle, which led to Gore getting the pitch and Johnson catching the pass. Gore has had the hype about the waivers this week, but even leading the core work his advantage is capped. If he doesn’t score a TD, he’s probably accumulating single-digit fantasy points. In PPR leagues, an RB target is worth three times as many Fantasy Points as a range. He wouldn’t be my best option, but if you need to catch someone from the waiver thread and you’re currently scratching your head wondering who to add, using Johnson’s passing game makes him a name for you.

Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts

Pittman has been on an uptrend for the past two weeks, scoring more than 15 fantasy points in each of his last two games. I don’t like that he just had three goals last week, but he’s had more than seven in his previous two games. The Colts were looking for someone to be the first target in this passing game and Pittman looks like that guy. I like his chances of building on his recent performances against the Titans, which saw the fifth most fantastic PPG win a WR this season (42.66). Pittman had his best game of the season against the Titans, scoring 122 yards and nearly 20 fantasy points. It’s a WR3 on the rise this week.

Nelson Agholor, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

Agholor has been a better weapon than what is attributed to him in the fantasy. He has scored more than 13 fantasy points in five of his last seven games, including more than 20 in two of them. He has two guys in this period, one was due to weather issues in Cleveland and the other was just a disappointment. But still, there has been more good than bad here lately. He’s also coming off a nine-target performance, making his season a high. He also had three top-level targets of the season over 20 aerial yards and three red zone targets. It is a huge volume. Agholor has turned out to be everything we hoped Henry Ruggs III would be, and it’s time to give him his fantasy. It’s a WR3 with an advantage. Oh, and he gets the Falcons this week who gave receivers the third most fantastic PPG (43.63) and second-most yards (210.8).

Denzel Mims, WR, New York Jets

Two jets in a dormant article? Insert the gif of what’s going on Jim here! But seriously, Mims has seen at least seven targets in three of the four games. Last week he saw five mind-boggling targets over 20 yards from the air. Hopefully the Jets continue to broadcast the ball to the rookie with Sam Darnold back. Mims has scored double-digit fantasy points in back-to-back games. He has the potential for him to score points in chunks if he can connect to those targets downstream. It’s either booming or broken down, but it’s a game upside down for those in deeper leagues.

Austin Hooper, TE, Cleveland Browns

Hooper was on the rise, scoring fantastic double-digit points in three straight games before suffering from appendicitis. He hasn’t been able to get back on track since his return, but this week against the Jags has the potential to be a good game. The Jags gave up 14.47 fantasy PPGs for tight ends, which are tied for sixth in the NFL. That includes eight touchdowns, which is the most tied in the league. The tight game has been rough this year and a touchdown is probably all it would take for Hooper to finish in the top 10 for tight ends. He has even more advantages in this favorable match.

Seahawks DEF

I know I have advised Wentz and the Eagles receivers, and I really believe it. But that doesn’t mean the Seahawks’ defense isn’t a sleepy streamer this week. Look, we know the struggles they’ve had in defense this year. But the Eagles gave up four sacks per game, the most in the NFL. They also allow two giveaways per game, the third largest in the NFL. Finally, defenses against the Eagles finished in the top 10 fantastic defenses in all but two games. Last week the Browns were recommended in this article and they finished as the best fantasy defense. The Seahawks are a good streaming option for those who still need some defense.
