A game after being ejected for a questionable shot on Nic Dowd, Micheal Ferland left Monday's third game with a first-half injury.
Ferland seems to be injured while trying to knock Tom Wilson down in the defensive zone of the Caps.
Ferland left the ice after this shift and went to the locker room.
Chip Alexander said Ferland would not return to the game during the first intermission.

With Ferland absent and Svechnikov indisposed after his fight against Alex Ovechkin, the Hurricanes did not have two of the three left wings in the game.
