Michel Chavis records his first Grand Slam career in the Red Sox win against the Blue Jays

The trend of the Red Sox in recent weeks is becoming clearer. Against good teams, they just did not do the job. There were positives, as was the case last weekend against the Dodgers, but overall, these games were negative. They have however won victories against bad teams at a fairly high level. Even these games have not been pretty, though. More often than not, the pitch has been decent to bad, the offense having to bear heavy loads. That was also the case here, the Red Sox having made mistakes in the field and on the basics. But in the end, this team needs victories and that's what they got in this game. It was just closer than it should have been.

At some point, the Red Sox will have to start again. Rick Porcello was not terrible As for the results, but it really was not what the team was not looking for the right-hander against a bad attack, frankly. For this particular night, it does not really matter. The offensive got a nice early lead by adding another big round to hide any problem on the mound. When they won recently – mainly against bad teams, of course – that's what happened. A mediocre throw being overshadowed by a big early attack.

In the bottom of the first goal, after Porcello allowed a double early in the game, but nothing else in the top half of the frame, the Red Sox went to work against Trent Thornton. It started with Mookie Betts, who turned out to be an essential cog at the top of this lineup. It seems that when he starts a match with a bang, the rest of the range follows the same. Here he started the night with a double snatched the Monster in the left field. Then, with an absent player, Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez headed down to charge the bases.

It is at this moment that the real pleasure has begun. Andrew Benintendi came next and he had a slightly better bat lately. He got some good wood on this one, placing just one in the right field to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead and keep the goals loaded with just one out. Michael Chavis then followed, and he had a very good shot from Michael Chavis. Thornton left a fast ball directly in the center of the strike zone, and the Red Sox rookie demolished it on the left field for his first career grand slam. Just like that, the Red Sox had a 5-0 lead after the first run.

Now, Rick Porcello just did not want to ruin that substantial advance that was offered to him so early in the game. It did not take him too much time to give back some of those races, though. That's Randal Grichuk who pitched that inning by pushing one by the left side. Porcello came back and had a few outs after that, but then Billy McKinney came to the plate. The former potential Yankees player had just been called back to the majors before the match and in his first big club batting match he jumped on a fast two-sided ball in the middle. He was blown up in the Red Sox, and as if the Blue Jays were back in all three.

After Boston lost a scoreless second, Toronto went back to work in the third against Porcello. He was just too arrogant in this game and it was never more obvious than in this round. It started with a single from Freddy Galvis, then some drummers later, Cavan Biggio had one. That brought Grichuk to the plate, and he would bring another run to the house with a double RBI. Justin Smoak then took part in what was suddenly a two – run match and he brought one of them home. Porcello did leave the field tied for third, but just one and a half after the Red Sox took a 5-0 lead, the Blue Jays were close to a goal.

Fortunately, the offensive was ready for a new explosion in the bottom of the third period to really put this game away. This full rally was also completed by two outs and started with the bottom of the order. Sandy León and Brock Holt both agreed before Betts took a ride to charge Rafael Devers' bases. The third base player scored a base goal, getting two points at home. Bogaerts then got another goal on a base shot before, some later drummers, Andrew Benintendi hit two more goals with a brace. Just like that, with a two-run five-point swap, the Red Sox were back by six.

This put an end to the action, with both parties stabilizing. For Toronto, that meant the scorer, but for the Red Sox that meant Porcello. He was much better in the second half of his outing, allowing a baseball player to participate in each of his last three innings, without letting them pass first base. He needed a lot of throws, but he managed six innings. A better team probably knocks it off much earlier, to be fair, but at least the team has had time.

After Porcello came out of the game, it was Marcus Walden who arrived for a perfect seventh. In the eighth, it was Ryan Brasier, but it was not perfect. Instead, he would allow three free kicks and a total of two points to put Toronto in the top four. Eric Sogard then dropped the title against Brasier and Devers made the very bad decision of trying to pitch behind the runner in second place. This led the runners to the corners with two outs, and the evening of Brasier was over.

Matt Barnes had to come to try to get out of this standoff with Freddy Galvis at the plate, and the right-handed Red Sox immediately launched a wild pitch. The runner in the third could not score, but Sogard was second. Then, a few shots later, Galvis came on with a sure shot at the base and suddenly it was a match at 10-8. Barnes finally released the final, but it was again a game.

It was always the score as we headed for the ninth with Brandon Workman coming to the mound to try to finish that game. Fortunately, he did not have fun with our heart in this game. The right-hander managed with an easy 1-2-3 run to end the match and go home with the save.

The Red Sox and Blue Jays continue their series Tuesday night. This will be the start of the Red Sox for Andrew Cashner. Toronto has not yet announced its starter. The first launch is scheduled for 19:10 ET.
