LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed several Senate bills that will expand the validation of driver’s licenses and personal ID cards.

Senate Bill 507 will extend the validity period of an operator’s or driver’s license. Senate Bill 508 will extend the validity period of an enhanced driver’s license or enhanced personal identity card. Senate Bill 509 will extend the period of validity of a personal identity card.

“We are pleased to enter a new era of service in our offices that is more efficient and convenient than ever,” said Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. “With this legislation, we are able to extend the expiration of all vehicle registrations, driver’s licenses and state ID cards to 120 days after an initial expiration date between March 31 and August 1. this year, and waive late fees or refund them retroactively to affected residents. by pandemic restrictions. Whitmer also signed Senate Bill 60, Senate Bill 372, Bill 459, Bill 4735, Bill 4656, and Bill 4980.

  • Senate Bill 60 will revise the requirements for a mechanical contractor’s license, revise the classifications and limitations of a license, and allow credits from certain HVAC programs to be applied to a mechanical contractor’s license. .

  • Senate Bill 372 eliminates the need for a local exchange service provider to provide a free printed telephone directory to every customer who requests one.
