At this week’s Thursday recruiting rally, we’ll discuss how the Michigan Wolverines impressed a few state rookies last weekend for their unofficial visits to the Big House. It’s early days, but they’re working on the junior class in the state of Michigan.
But we’re kicking off today’s edition of the Roundup with an update on arguably Michigan’s best remaining goal in the 2022 class.
Five-star OL could visit AA again
Even though he took advantage of his official visit to Michigan for the Washington game earlier this month, 2022 five-star offensive lineman Josh Conerly could return to Ann Arbor for another visit later this season, has he recently told Brandon Huffman of 247Sports ($).
“I haven’t really found another place to visit yet, but maybe Oklahoma, Michigan, LSU, Alabama, and USC,” Conerly said.
Conerly unofficially traveled to Washington a few weeks ago because he is so close and lives in the city of Seattle. Last weekend he was able to visit USC and see them destroyed by the state of Oregon at his home for the first time in over five years – it was also an unofficial visit. He will also be visiting USC for an official visit later this year.
“The atmosphere in the game was good,” Conerly said of USC last weekend. “But the vibrations before the game were electric and I was there after the game.”
Conerly also hopes to visit Oregon at some point this year. This recruiting is far from over, but being considered for another visit down the line, which would be his third to Michigan, is great news for Jim Harbaugh and his company. Stay tuned for more on this one.
Brother of UM freshman raves about visit
There weren’t many visitors to sign at Michigan Stadium last weekend for the Rutgers game, but among the junior prospects was Michigan’s first-year offensive lineman’s younger brother, the 2023 athlete. Khamari Anderson.
At 6-4, 225 pounds, Anderson could play a few positions at the college level as he plays the tight end and defensive end at Cass Tech. He had the opportunity to speak with several coaches from both sides of the ball during his visit, including Josh Gattis, Sherrone Moore, Steve Clinkscale and Ron Bellamy.
“The visit went well,” Anderson told Michigan Insider. “I had good feedback from the coaches. The energy was great and there were good vibes.
“The energy of the fans definitely and how much everyone admires the players who show them a lot of love after the game.”
Anderson does not yet have an offer from the Wolverines, but they are at least interested in him since they invited him to attend the game. Watch for its recruitment as the year progresses and more films come out.
2023 DB very interested in UM after receiving an offer
A rising prospect who lives on the West Coast in the class of 2023 is defensive back Christian Pierce. Much like Ders, Blake and Adam of “Workaholics,” the 6ft 2in, 180lb hails from Rancho Cucamonga, California.
Michigan, which offered him Tuesday, marked the fifth scholarship in his young recruit, joining USC, Nevada, Oregon State and Rice. Pierce recapped the Wolverines’ offer with Greg Biggins of 247Sports ($).
“It was an amazing feeling,” Pierce said. “I spoke with Courtney Morgan on Monday and he told me they really liked my movie and my grades too. He told me they were very interested in me and he just wanted to talk with my coach to make sure I was a good guy.
“I kind of thought an offer might come up, then he called me back (Tuesday) morning before school and told me I had a scholarship offer. I was super excited and I really have a lot of interest in Michigan right now.
The Wolverines are so interested that they’re already trying to make an effort to bring Pierce to Ann Arbor on a visit in the near future. Morgan is hoping he can come this fall for a game, but “if not, then for a regular visit when my season is over, then I will definitely try to do that.”
