WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has tested positive for COVID-19.
Foley took to Twitter this evening and announced that he caught the coronavirus after a recent virtual signing. He has been in quarantine in a hotel room for 18 days.
“I tested positive for COVID after a virtual signature in December and have isolated myself in a hotel room for 18 days. Keep taking this virus seriously – hide yourself, social distancing, watch out for each other. I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year, ”Foley wrote.
Foley noted in his video that he participated in a virtual signing on Saturday, December 18. He said there were two other people in the room with him, both of whom were wearing their masks, but Foley removed his to help with the signing. One of the men in the room felt symptoms later that night and reported them to Foley. Foley added that he waited the 5 days before getting tested and has been at the hotel since then.
Foley said his symptoms of COVID-19 include body aches, loss of smell, impaired hearing and easy fatigue. He said one of the worst times was missing vacations with his family, including Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Foley called on people to take the coronavirus very seriously. He admitted he could have done better when it comes to complying with COVID-19 guidelines, especially after being so adamant about people wearing their masks.
Foley also revealed that he drastically cut back on his job during the pandemic, as in the past 11 months he had only worked 2 reality shows, 4 virtual signatures, 2 personal appearances and WWE. Survivor Series pay-per-view for The Undertaker’s “Final Farewell” segment. He noted that in those 11 months, he had undergone 12 coronavirus tests.
Foley’s positive diagnosis of COVID-19 is likely the reason WWE didn’t announce him for the RAW edition of Monday’s Legends Night.
This is the second time Foley has gone into quarantine since the pandemic. We noted in April how Foley announced that he would be sending free videos to fans to help spread positive energy during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. Foley noted while in isolation and could not be reunited with his family for a few weeks due to COVID-19 issues.
