Trump, in an interview with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News on Sunday, was informing the reporter about the publication of a financial statement when Mulvaney spoke of a cough that could be heard during from the president's remark.

"Let's do it." He coughs in the middle of my answer, "said Trump pointing to Mulvaney.

"Yeah, okay," Stephanopoulos said.

"I do not like it, you know, I do not like it," said Trump, while Stephanopoulos noted that the cough came from "your chief of staff."

"If you have to cough, leave the room, you can not, you can not cough," Trump said, shaking his head. "Oh dear."

The camera then switches while the crew tries to rearrange and restart the shot. A member of the crew told the president that "we just changed angle".

Trump then briefly looks at the camera before finishing his answer.

"So at some point – frankly, I look forward to that, frankly, I would like people to see my financial state because it's phenomenal."

The president's interview with Stephanopoulos has been closely watched, the network having published excerpts in recent days including Trump's comments on everything from Richard Nixon to accepting the foreign government's policy to the new concepts proposed by Air Force One.
