Microsoft really hopes to get to work with the next version of the Hololens. In fact, the software giant has announced a new customization program for HoloLens 2.

It remains to be seen exactly how such customized versions of the XR headset will look like, but the company's first partner, Trimble Construction Equipment Company, offers a pretty interesting overview. The company joined Microsoft on stage to launch a new collaboration.

The XR10 is a custom helmet with a built-in 2-pivot HoloLens, allowing construction jobs to get a head-up display on the site. This first partnership clearly indicates where Microsoft hopes to go with this second generation of its headset, bringing technology beyond the limits of the office and into a real website.

The price is still to be determined, but the helmet will be available at the same time as the standard Hololens 2.
