Newsbrief: Microsoft has announced a version of its future HoloLens 2 mixed reality headset for developers, but, as TechCrunch points out, the hardware of the HoloLens 2 Development Edition is no different from the one announced earlier this year.
Instead, Microsoft has included extras in the package which, he hopes, will appeal to developers, while offering developers the opportunity to pay the $ 3,500 headset in monthly payments.
HoloLens 2 Development Edition comes with $ 500 Azure credits and three-month trials for Unity Pro and the Unity PiXYZ program. Although HoloLens 2 Development Edition is at the same price as the version announced by Microsoft earlier this year, the developer kit includes the option to pay monthly payments of $ 99 rather than all at the same time. Pre-orders for this release of HoloLens 2 are also limited to developers enrolled in the Microsoft Mixed Reality Developer Program.
