Microsoft introduced its new family of Surface Hub collaboration devices designed for conference rooms. The new lineup includes a brand new 85-inch model for those who need larger screens, as well as a brand new 50-inch model that can be battery-powered. What's interesting is that the new collaborative PCs are scalable, unlike the first generation Surface Hub launched in 2015.
Microsoft Surface Hubs are full-featured all-in-one computers with software and hardware capabilities tailored to the collaboration and conferencing rooms. The 50-inch Surface Hub 2S offers a resolution of 3840×2560, is based on the Intel 8 processorth Gen's Quad Core i5 processor with Intel UHD 620 graphics card along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB SSD. As a Microsoft system, the Surface Hub 2S comes with a special version of Windows 10, Skype for Business, Microsoft Whiteboard, Microsoft Office and other programs. Of course, PCs are equipped with a set of standard ports, including GbE, USB Type-A, USB Type-C, HDMI, etc.
One of the main differences between the Surface Hub 2S and its predecessors is that its hardware is no longer integrated, but integrated into a cartridge that can be upgraded. For example, next year, Microsoft plans to launch its Surface Hub 2X processor cartridge offering superior GPU performance as well as a set of new software features.
The new Surface Hub 2S collaborative computers come with the Surface Hub 2 camera and the Surface Hub 2 Pen. In addition, Microsoft will offer specially designed brackets and wall mounts, as well as a battery designed by APC for the 50-inch model.
Microsoft will start selling its 50-inch Surface Hub 2S in June for $ 8,999. The largest 85-inch model will be available in 2020.
