Microsoft announces that it eliminates Microsoft Health Dashboard applications and services – and offers refunds to band owners

It's been a while since Microsoft stopped its band fitness program, but in the past two years, owners have been able to synchronize the data collected via the laptop. But now, the company has announced its intention to close Microsoft Band applications and the Microsoft Health Dashboard website.

The shutdown date has been set for May 31st. As of this date, the Android, iOS and Windows Phone applications will disappear from their respective stores and services will be terminated. Users have limited time to export their data and, to mitigate the shock, some band owners will be eligible for a rebate of up to $ 175.

Although Microsoft Health Dashboard is shutting down, Microsoft says band owners will still be able to use their devices less and Web features. This means that basic functionality such as recording activity data and sleep tracking will continue to work, but very little. Microsoft also sends a warning that "resetting the device after the service has been stopped will make it impossible to re-configure the device".

Anyone who wants to recover the data already synced to their account will have to do it soon. Starting May 31, all Microsoft Health Dashboard dashboard data will be deleted. The instructions for exporting the data can be found here.

But what is particularly interesting here, is the fact that Microsoft offers refunds to some users of the band. If you are eligible, you should receive an e-mail telling you what to do. You could earn $ 79.99 if you have a Group 1 or $ 175 if you own a Group 2. Microsoft explains that group owners are eligible. Is a refund:

1. Have a band that is covered by its limited warranty; OR
2. Are active users. An active user is defined as a user who has worn the wristband and has synchronized bracelet data to the health dashboard between 01/12/2018 and 01/03/2019.
