In an update to the Windows 10 Health Dashboard, Microsoft confirmed that they were working on a fix for the 0x80073701 error that users were receiving when installing new v1903 updates.
After the release of hotfix updates on Tuesday, August 2019, users began to report that they were receiving errors when they were trying to install cumulative updates for Windows 10 version 1903.
Users would install the update, reach 100%, and then display an error code. The most common error codes observed in reports are 0x80073701, 0x800f0982, 0x800f081f, 0x800f0845, and 0x8024200D.
In an update to the Windows 10 Health Dashboard, Microsoft acknowledged that this issue affected both the 1903 version of the Windows 10 and Windows server. They also indicated that they "were working on a resolution and would provide an update in a future release".
"The installation of updates may fail and the error message" Failed updates, problems installing updates were detected, but we will try again later "or" Error 0x80073701 "on the Windows Update dialogue or in Udate history. "
Although most user reports indicate that the problem started on August 13, Microsoft indicates that the problem actually occurred when the cumulative update of May 29, 2019 – KB4497935 was released.
It is unclear whether a future fix will also resolve other error codes that users receive.
