Microsoft Edge history and tab sync features are finally starting to roll out

Microsoft is finally starting to roll out tab history and sync for its Edge browser. Almost a year after its initial release, some Microsoft Edge users now see the full web history and tab syncing features available in their browsers. The rollout is gradual, but you can check if it’s available in your country by going to settings> profiles> sync and enabling “history” and “open tabs” in the options.

Not all countries have access to the additional sync features yet, but we understand the UK is one of the first markets to see tabs history and sync initially. These new features will allow Edge users to sync any web pages they’ve visited to additional Windows 10 or macOS devices, or even to the mobile versions of Edge for iOS and Android.

You will need to go to the settings section on any devices you use Edge with to manually enable history and open tab features. This includes the mobile versions, where you will also need to enable open tabs and history.

Microsoft initially launched Edge on January 15, 2020 without enabling many important sync options. Extensions sync arrived in May, and Microsoft initially promised tab history and sync would begin rolling out this summer. Web History and Tab Sync finally started rolling out to the browser beta and development channels at the end of November and are now showing up in the stable channel.

Microsoft continues to regularly improve Edge, recently adding a very useful screenshot tool and price comparison feature. Edge will also soon be updated with vertical tabs and new password breach notifications.
