In what appears to be a regulatory filing, images of the new Sufrace Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4 have been leaked, and unfortunately, there is no design change from the previous generation.
Leak comes from a Twtter user @cozyplanes from Seoul, South Korea. The 17-year-old is proud to have found these types of filings and reports on manufacturing issues and backlogs at big tech companies.
According to Windows Central, the next Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4 are expected to launch in mid-January. Usually Surface devices tend to launch in October, but delays could be related to the coronavirus or internal hardware changes.

The new Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4 will feature Intel’s 11th generation processors and its new Iris Xe graphics, which is a huge step up from the company’s latest generation of integrated GPUs.
However, the MacBook Air M1 already largely beats laptops with 11th Gen Intel chips, including the new Dell XPS 13 and Asus ZenBook 3. You can see the sad truth in our benchmark review of the MacBook M1.
The new MacBook Air also outperforms all of its closest Windows competitors in battery life, as it lasted 14 hours and 41 minutes in our web browsing battery test. The Surface Pro 7 lasted 7:52, although the 11th gen chip should be a bit more efficient.
According to sources close to Windows Central’s Zac Bowden, they claim that AMD options will be available again with the 8, but which specific chips are uncertain. An LTE option will also be available.
Microsoft has had a healthy relationship with AMD in recent years. Not only did Microsoft co-design a special Ryzen chip for the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3, it also worked closely with the company on the Xbox Series X.
Although last year’s Surface Laptop 3 brought a stellar design, it fell behind in performance, speed, and battery life. We hope Microsoft can do better with the Surface Laptop 4, as well as the Surface Pro 8.
