We received some interesting news about gaming services, dropping some apps and encouraging news regarding the next feature update for Windows 10. Make sure to check all that – and of course, the little one more and more – in your Microsoft summary for the week of March 30 to April 5.
Games services
Although it was announced about three months ago, the Razer Turret mouse and keyboard for the Xbox One are now only exporting. Those interested can buy the combo device for $ 250.
In case you do not receive last week's announcement regarding this month's Games with Gold, you can now get The technomancer for the Xbox One, as well as Star Wars Battlefront II for the 360 and Xbox One, for free. Of course, if you have an active subscription to Xbox Live Gold.
If you are in the UK, the prices of this subscription should increase quite significantly from next month. The price will increase by 25%, with annual subscriptions costing £ 49.99 instead of the current £ 39.99. The three-month pass will increase from £ 15 to £ 18 and a monthly fee will cost £ 7 instead of £ 6. Although the change will occur on May 8, current subscribers will continue to pay the current rate for the next three months, and will therefore be affected by the changes after August 7.
People may remember that Microsoft has something called Xbox All Access, which is essentially the two-year carrier console variant that we see for phones. It allows you to get the Xbox console of your choice (S or X), as well as Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass, for a monthly subscription. In fact, the company would also work on something that does not include the hardware, but only the subscription services. Nicknamed Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, it would be available at a price of $ 14.99 a month – or $ 1 a month for Xbox insiders during testing – according to WalkingCat leakster. If the company plans to unveil this combined offer soon, the "big event" most likely to occur is E3, which will run from June 11 to 14.
As we mentioned Xbox Insiders, if you use Windows 10 1809 or later, you can now take advantage of some features offered by the game bar. One is the integration of Spotify, followed by the possibility of add text to your screenshots (potentially turning them into memes), and a new Xbox Social widget. You can also finally customize the game bar by choosing where to pin widgets. To access all this, you need the Xbox Insider Hub app, inside which you have to select Insider Content and then Windows Gaming.
Now, games on Windows are a vast subject, but a particular interest is Halo: The Master Chief Collection 343 Industries did not reveal a specific release date for. However, we know that if everything goes as planned, the studio wants to start testing Halo: Reach / Master Chief Collection flights this month.
Finishing this section is a reason to celebrate, especially if you are in Minecraft. To be more precise, the Java edition on PC has crossed the threshold of 30 million sales, which is quite an achievement. As a reminder, the title was released in 2011 and became an original game after Microsoft bought Mojang in 2014. According to the October issue, Minecraft had sold more than 154 million copies and had more than 91 active players per month on all platforms.
A bunch of builds
We begin this section with a cumulative update for the October 2018 update, which is KB4490481 and which compiles the build up to 17763.404. It includes a long list of fixes related to Edge, IE, information related to different time zones, failure to launch Microsoft Store applications and much more.
Some known issues need to be taken into account when updating above, one of them being IE11 – and other applications using WININET.DLL – having problems. ;authentication. To resolve this problem, create a different account for each person who logs on to a Windows Server-based computer.
Another known problem is MSXML6-based, which causes applications to stop responding if an exception is thrown during node operations. Custom URL schemes for application protocol handlers may no longer work. There may be problems with the run-time environment before start-up if the variable window extension is used and, finally, if the end-user defined characters (EUDC) are enabled. by font, the system goes to blue filtering. It is recommended not to activate EUDC.
For developers, it is interesting to note that the 18362 preview version of the SDK is out and has the same number as the fast and slow rings. This means that 18362 is the most likely release candidate for the 1903 version.
Regarding fast and slow ringtones, 18362.30 has been pushed at once and it fixes a problem preventing ADF users from logging in after upgrading to a 19H1 PC on a PC attached to AAD, l? inability of users to enable or disable the .NET Framework or other optional features, as well as a bug that prevented computers from initializing after a cumulative update was installed, followed by a optional feature on demand. On a related note, if you are in the Slow ring, you will need to install 18356.21 before the build above, because this one removes the block from the build line 18362. As you may remember, this was due to update issues in this ring when the original version of 18362 was released.
Hiding the section is a strange news, because Microsoft announced that the versions of 20H1 were moving towards the fast ring. No, it's not a typo, and yes, 19H2 still exists. We promise that it will come later this spring.
Applications are discontinued
If you still find yourself on the unfortunate Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile, you will receive a message when you open the Instagram application. This informs you that support for Instagram on the platform will be removed on April 30th. This is of course not surprising given that Microsoft has abandoned the mobile operating system and support for version 1703 ends in June, while 1709 stops in August. December.
Just so that the application above does not feel alone – or more likely because of its creation by the same company -, the official applications of Facebook and Messenger are also removed on April 30th. The singular application that is visibly missing is WhatsApp, although presumably the announcement of its shutdown is not far behind.
Change of company and platform, it is the turn of Microsoft to interrupt something. On this occasion, we are talking about the Books section of the store. The books tab is effective immediately, but those who bought or rented securities can read them until the end of the rental period or until July 2019, by which time they will be completely deleted. However, you will get a full refund of the original purchase price, and pre-orders will be canceled and the user will not be charged. As you may remember, this feature debuted with Creators Update, which means it has been available for less than two years.
On a more positive note, although the giant's browser from Redmond has gone from EdgeHTML to Chromium, few people have wondered if features like regular scrolling and 4K Netflix streaming would still be a thing once the new Edge (or Edgium, or if people want to call it) is available. Some people in Reddit happen to have noticed that Edgium has flags for Widevine and PlayReady, the latter being a hardware-based DRM system (Intel Kaby Lake processor, Nvidia GeForce 1000 series graphics processor or higher required), which allows support for 4K broadcast. Edge is the only browser to support 4K streaming since 2016, and these flags are apparently not found in other Chromium-based browsers.
The fast ring
- Surface Book 2 with 8th Generation Core i5 is now available for purchase.

- Kaizala is now available to Office 365 users around the world, but will soon be available to teams.
- If you have a Surface Pro 6 or a Surface Pro (2017), you can check for updates because both devices have had a number of fixes related to drivers and firmware.

Finally, let's take a look at the announcement of the next feature update for Windows 10, known until recently as 19H1 or 1903.
Although some speculation has suggested that the update would be doubled after April, Microsoft finally revealed that 19H1 was the May 2019 update and it would appear in the Release Preview next week.
It will be available by the end of May, which means it will spend at least a month in the Release Preview tests, unlike its predecessor who ignored the last ring before production.
But there is more, because the giant Redmond add a download option and installation especially for feature updates. This way, you will be able to install cumulative updates normally, without fear that the next version of Windows 10 will also be installed and may cause problems. This automatic push will only occur if your current version of Windows 10 is coming to an end.
Although 1903 is the first to benefit from the option described in the paragraph above, by the end of next month, this feature will also be available to users from 1803 and 1809.
Two other things to discuss are the period during which you can suspend updates, up to 35 days. You will be able to do it once a week up to five times, and this applies to all versions of Windows 10 (yes, Windows 10 Home included). Finally, there is also a heath dashboard called Windows version that allows users to check the status of the update's deployment and known issues.
The above changes are certainly welcome and should alleviate the more pressing issues that contributed to the reorganization around 1809 and its rather weak share.
