As we get closer to Microsoft's next Surface event on October 2nd, it seems that the company's new Surface Pro 3 could be much more than the incremental update we saw last year with the Surface Laptop 2. After a leak revealing the existence of Roland Quandt of the German blog WinFuture.de, a 15-inch variant with AMD engine, claims to have obtained detailed information on prices and configuration.
So, yes, someone sent me a price list / rather official specification for what appears to be the new Microsoft # SurfaceLaptop3 Model 15 inches based on AMD Ryzen. There are mentions of SoC Ryzen quad, hexa and even octacore, configs of 8/12/16 GB of RAM https://t.co/6haEB5mrsv

According to the report, Microsoft could plan up to six variants of its 15-inch Laptop Surface 3 with 8-core AMD processors. Here is a summary of what might be on the cards:
- Two entry-level models with 4-core AMD Ryzen SoCs, 8GB of RAM and a price range of $ 999 to $ 1099.
- Two mid-range models with 6-core AMD Ryzen processors and 12GB of RAM, with prices ranging from $ 1399 to $ 1599.
- Two high-end configurations with AMD 8-core processors and 16 GB RAM, priced between 1999 and 2399 US dollars.
The report notes that AMD has not yet introduced Ryzen's 6-core or 8-core mobile processors, but the chip maker, Microsoft's long-time partner, could have chosen giant Redmond as a launch partner to these new chips.
As usual, take this latest leak with a grain of salt, but Microsoft's prospect of launching a 15-inch Surface 3 laptop with an 8-core AMD processor could well make things happen. The Laptop Surface has been practically in the shadow of Surface Pro for the last two years, but AMD could finally give Microsoft the opportunity to push the ultrabook concept to new heights.
We can not wait to see what Microsoft is preparing for its Surface event on October 2nd, but we will be there and we will share our practical impressions with the new products as soon as we can see them.
