Midnight Mass’s Mike Flanagan to bring Edgar Allan Poe to Netflix

Mike Flanagan, the creator of Midnight Mass, adapts Edgar Allan Poe The Fall of House Usher for Netflix. The streaming service announced the new series Wednesday, but hasn’t revealed when it might be released.

The Fall of House Usher follows an anonymous narrator as he stays with two siblings and watches their large family fade away in the most frightening way possible. While the series is based on Poe’s original short story, it’s likely Flanagan and his team will make some big additions as they draw the story into a full eight-episode miniseries.

Flanagan is no stranger to working with Netflix, having directed, written and created series like The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Mansion, with the films Gerald’s game and Silence. Flanagan also posted Midnight Mass for Netflix in September.

Before going to Edgar Allan Poe, Flanagan also has another adaptation with the streaming service in the works. It will also adapt that of Christopher Pike The midnight club, a haunting story about terminally ill young adults, in a series slated to hit Netflix next year.
