Miesha Tate tested positive for COVID-19, fight against Ketlen Vieira postponed

Miesha Tate will have to wait until a later date for her clash against Ketlen Vieira after the former bantamweight champion tested positive for COVID-19.

Sources familiar with the situation confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Wednesday following an initial report from Sherdog.com.

Tate was originally scheduled to face Vieira in the main UFC Fight Night map event on October 16, but the match is now expected to be rescheduled to a later date. There is no exact schedule for the rescheduled game, although Tate and Vieira are still expected to meet later this year.

It’s an unfortunate turn of events for Tate, who made her return to mixed martial arts in July where she earned a third round TKO victory over Marion Reneau. It was Tate’s first UFC appearance after his retirement in 2016.

After the win, Tate wasted no time in booking his next fight against Vieira with this fight scheduled as a main event in five rounds.

While all signs point to a quick recovery for Tate, she still won’t be able to compete on October 16 after testing positive for COVID-19.

The UFC has not made any official announcements regarding the map change or a new main event that will now fill the time slot left vacant by Tate vs Vieira being postponed.
