US authorities are looking for a woman and a child who would have abandoned the body of a seven-year-old Indian girl.
Border police officers on the southern border say the girl died on Wednesday after smugglers forced her and others to cross the border illegally in a remote part of the border. between Arizona and Mexico, according to the Customs and Border Protection.
"It's a senseless death driven by cartels that are taking advantage of life-threatening," said Roy Villareal, Tucson's chief patrol officer, in a statement. "Our condolences go to this little girl and her family,"
Officers from the Tucson area arrested two Indian women earlier this week. They learned that one woman and two children who had traveled with them had been separated during the crossing.
