miHoYo makes a statement on the data breach

[ad_1]

miHoYo will improve security soon.

Genshin impact has grown in popularity since its launch last year. The game will receive its next major update, Update 1.4 on March 17, and it will add a new Rosaria character, new items, weapons and more.

Players are very excited for the upcoming update, as well as future updates, as miHoYo will release an update every six weeks. In the midst of all of this there was an issue that bothered the players a lot. A large number of players have been the subject of hacker attacks lately, and they have either lost access to their accounts or their accounts have been completely destroyed. This has made the community quite anxious as many players are even hesitant to participate in miHoYo’s own official events, believing it could be a phishing link.

Genshin Impact Account Hacks: miHoYo Make Statement on Data Leak, Will Improve Security

The community has been asking for two-factor authentication for some time now, but we haven’t received any updates from miHoYo on this. Now miHoYo has finally released a statement on the ongoing hacks. Many believed there was a data leak from the end of miHoYo, but that doesn’t appear to be the case according to their statement. Here is the translated version of the statement that was posted to the Genshin Thailand group (courtesy of u / uijbg).

Thanks for contacting us, at this time the developer is discussing increasing the security system. Based on the information we currently have, we have many layers of security and have no signs of leaking. Most of the players who have been hacked, and [sic] mainly because they gave their information to the bogus website. We hope the traveler does not go to the bogus website. We will also increase account security, please wait for new updates.

I don’t know, if anyone still sees this. I saw this from the official Thai group (they said they took from the genshin world group) of GenshinHacked

It is not implied that this increased security is, but it is assumed that 2FA would make the most sense here. Considering the speed at which accounts are being hacked, we can expect this very soon.

Genshin impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5 and Mobile.
