miHoYo sues two players who leaked content in the 1.2 closed beta

Genshin Impact Version 1.2: miHoYo has asked players to refrain from sharing the leaked content as it is still under development and does not reflect the update.

miHoYo announced on November 19 that it intends to take legal action against players who disclosed content from version 1.2 of the closed beta test of Genshin impact (PC, PS4, PS5, Mobile, soon on Switch). The leak of the test content is a violation of the nondisclosure agreement players had to sign to participate. As such, miHoYo has launched “proceedings to bring legal proceedings against those responsible for such violations”.

miHoYo investigated and traced the two-player leaks whose information was partially disclosed:

Server: Celestia Server
Nickname: Star *** Chizuru
Live Server UID: 100 *** 556
Beta server UID: 1 *** 31

Server: America
Nickname: J ** z
Live Server UID: 600 *** 200
Beta server UID: 2 *** 28

miHoYo explained that he understands players want to hear more about the news as soon as possible. However, the content for the closed beta test is still in development. As such, we might get a bad idea if we see it before we do it. miHoYo also urged players to follow official sources for content disclosures. Finally, miHoYo will be stepping up its efforts to combat leaks and has kindly asked players not to share this kind of information.

The declaration concerning the Genshin impact Content for version 1.2 was first shared in English on Facebook. Later it was also published in Japanese:

Additionally, it’s important to note why miHoYo is doing this. Almost everything about version 1.1 was leaked ahead of its November 11 release. MiHoYo is now taking leaks more seriously than ever, and it looks like it won’t happen again.

Personally, it’s not like I’m on the side of miHoYo or any company, but not breaking NDA is common sense. I believe Genshin impact In particular, has many players who are easily impressionable due to their young age or their lack of experience with Japanese games (gacha). As such, leaks and their share of false or incomplete information can have disastrous consequences for the community. Something I don’t personally want to deal with, as a person whose job it is to go through regularly Genshin places where players meet and official channels. I’m tired of ‘is this character going to be nerfed’ debates because of the leaks. It is extremely rare in the first place that the characters in a game of gacha are also nerfed.

miHoYo recently reduced the difficulty of the story’s boss fight against Childe. The ongoing Unreconciled Stars event also has a pretty neat detail if you own Venti.
