This is probably one of those days when Mike Francesa wishes he still had a radio show in New York.
The former WFAN host was already excited about the Mets’ contract negotiations with Francisco Lindor on Wednesday afternoon when the star shortstop offer was 10 years and $ 325 million. Later that night, the two sides reached an agreement on an 11-year, $ 341 million contract.
“This Lindor contract is absurd”, Francesa tweeted. “The first 10-year contracts are terrible for the club. In this case, the Mets went the extra mile.
“If he walks away from 10 for 325 and has a bad year here, which a lot of freshman stars do, he’ll be sorry forever.” If the Mets move, they are weak and stupid.
The Mets have moved, as has Lindor, who initially asked for 12 years and $ 385 million. Either Francesa hasn’t seen the news yet, or she finds out about the perfect annihilation of 280 Steve Cohen characters.
