Florida State Coach Mike Norvell said after Saturday’s surprise 35-25 victory over A C that his team shows that they “believe” in what is happening in Tallahassee. The Seminoles started the year 0-4, but have since won two games in a row and found a way to control a road game against the Tar Heels as a three-point underdog.

Norvell, during his post-game press conference, expressed pride in the way his team fought to fight a 10-0 deficit on the road.

Here is the opening statement of the press conference:

“Really, really proud of this football team. We knew at the start of this week that this was a great opportunity for us. Last week we showed that we can win a game there on one last game, through combat, through adversity, all the things we need to do. We’ve been talking to the team all week to show that we can do the same thing but go on the road. The way they prepared themselves throughout the week, accepting the challenges, continuing to believe, continuing to push, tonight we played winning football.

“You look at him, offensively, 7 out of 10 in the 3rd downs. 3 out of 3 in the red zone. Even though the first quarter didn’t go the way we wanted it to be, only the guys kept fighting. I thought Jordan had done an amazing job. Our whole team. It’s an extremely explosive attack that we played against. I thought we could keep them under control for the most part. There are things that we keep working on, but these guys, the way they invest, the things that they invest in this program, I’m so proud of them and I feel like we we got better tonight. To be able to get into a week off, and we need it, we’re screwed. We’ve got down to, we’re playing a lot in the depth of our alignment. So we must be able to heal. But we’ll take this one tonight. To be able to come on the road, against all odds, a team that played phenomenally at home and our guys didn’t worry about all that. They were just worried about their performance and the things they could control. Just very proud of this football team, of the way they presented themselves and competed for 60 minutes.
